Cancer Centers of America Nashik organized the “1st Practicon Conclave” on latest Detection & Treatment Options for Cancer.

Nashik, 21st July 2023: Cancer Centers of America (CCA) is a comprehensive oncology platform created to make quality world class cancer care accessible and affordable, Organized the “1st Practicon Conclave” for sharing latest detection & treatment options for Cancer with General Practitioners of North Maharashtra.

 

The event was organized in the presence of Dr. Shibaji Chattopadhyay, Group Chief Operating Officer, Cancer Centers of America, Dr Shruti Kate, Sr. Consultant- Medical Oncology, Dr. Roshan Kumar, Consultant-Radiation Oncology, Dr.PritishJunagade, Consultant Haematologist, Haemato Oncologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician, Dr Ajay Kumar Jadhav, Sr. Consultant – Surgical Oncology,and Dr.Chandrashekhar Pethe, Sr. Consultant -Medical Oncology, at Cancer Centers of America, Nashik.

 

The estimated number of incident cases of cancer in India for the year 2022 was found to be 14,61,427 (crude rate:100.4 per 100,000). In India, one in nine people are likely to develop cancer in his/her lifetime. Lung and breast cancers were the leading sites of cancer in males and females, respectively. Among the childhood (0-14 yr) cancers, lymphoid leukaemia (boys: 29.2% and girls: 24.2%) was the leading site. The incidence of cancer cases is estimated to increase by 12.8 per cent in 2025 as compared to 2020.

 

India has seen an increase in the incidence of cancer due to factors such as urbanization, industrialization, lifestyle changes, and population growth. Sadly, more than 70% of these cases are reported in advanced stages, leading to poor survival rates. Accessibility to early diagnosis as well as access to optimal treatment systems is essential for India to improve survival rates.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shibaji Chattopadhaya, Group COO, Cancer Centers of America said “We have started this program “Practicon” specifically designed for the General practitioners as they the first point of contact by any patient and if they are aware about the initial symptoms and correct diagnostics tools, it becomes easier to detect the cancer at early stage.  Early detection of cancer is crucial because it significantly improves the chances of successful treatment. When cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, it is often less advanced and hasn’t spread extensively.
